a group of animal dwellings resembling a village:

The definition given above is not a true representation of what the word Village means. If you want to gain a true overstanding of Village, you must look for the origin and etymology of the word. You will find this:

late 14c., "inhabited place larger than a hamlet but smaller than a town," from Old French vilage "houses and other buildings in a group" (usually smaller than a town), from Latin villaticum "farmstead" (with outbuildings), noun use of neuter singular of villaticus "having to do with a farmstead or villa," from villa "country house" (from PIE root *weik-(1) "clan"). As an adjective from 1580s. Village idiot is recorded from 1825. Related: Villager (1560s).

This origin breakdown is still vague in its meaning. What we get is that a Village is an inhabited place. It is larger than a hamlet (small village?) It is usually smaller than a town. It references buildings in a group. It can be incorporated into a municipality.

With all that being said, let’s talk about the intrinsic meaning of Village as well as its indigenous references.

Village references the first visual representation that a group of entities are organizing for the benefit of the whole. From the microscopic and atomic level on to the galactic and cosmic level, we can see how the concept of a village exists in varying states of existence. A cluster of atoms that come together to form an element or a compound is an example of a village on the atomic level.

We see clusters of cells and microscopic organisms clumping together for the benefit of the whole which represents “village living”. On a universal level, planets clump together within the gravitational pull of a star or stars representing a cosmic village. This concept is no different for humanity.

For as long as humans have been on this planet, they have found ways to “clump” together for the benefit of the entire group. Either for survival, for food gathering or even for convenience of building structures, humans have exploited the principle of “Village living” for generations.

The Village principle for humanity is no different than what happens naturally around us. The thing that makes human “villages” unique is how we interact with each other within the villages.

Humans have created and destroyed villages for centuries. Mostly for the purposes of control of territories, property or people, humans have lusted for power and have utilized villages to flex their powers for the collective global population to witness. This has been to both the benefit and detriment of the progress of human evolution.

The detriment has resulted in humans falling away from the indigenous significance of what a Village represents and moving more towards “mechanized villages” established by power hungry governing factions for the purposes of creating caste systems and generating more revenue for whoever is in control.

Overstanding the significance of a true Village in this day and time is crucial to beginning the journey to repairing the damage humans have done to this planet over the last 6,000 years.

The Village is:

  • A common dwelling area where a group of entities who vibrate at a similar frequency can come together and assist in sustaining each other while preserving a principle or system of principles for future generations of them

  • An environment where the classifications of denizens (women, men, children, elders) receive the best exposure to things that will ensure they carry on the principles of the Village for the future

  • A safe space for the essence of a people

  • A place of peace and progress worth protecting and providing for by members of the Village
